Defense Ministry: Azerbaijani Army maintain full control over situation along border

02 December 2016 [12:35] - TODAY.AZ

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry announced that the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan have not suffered any casualties and have maintained full control over the situation along the border, Azertac reported.

The Ministry further emphasized that the Azerbaijani Army is ready to prevent enemy's any provocation at any time.
The Armenian armed units shattered ceasefire with Azerbaijan a total of 56 times throughout the day, the ministry said earlier.

Armenia captured Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions from Azerbaijan in a war that followed the Soviet breakup in 1991. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and nearly 1 million were displaced as a result of the war.

Large-scale hostilities ended with a Russia-brokered ceasefire in 1994 but Armenia continued the occupation in defiance of four UN Security Council resolutions calling for immediate and unconditional withdrawal.
