Azerbaijani Parliament turns to World Azerbaijanis

During the final meeting of the fall session on Friday Milli Majlis (parliament) issued an address in honor of the Solidarity Day of World Azerbaijanis, which congratulated Azerbaijani people on this auspicious occasion.

"Tens of millions of Azerbaijanis living all around the world are more and more imbued with the idea of unity. Relations are improving between our diasporas and communities, our people are supporting each other in the protection of national rights, strengthening ties with their historical homeland," the statement says.

From historical point of view, reaching a dynamic economic development and building constitutional democratic state and civil society within a short period Azerbaijan made progress equal to an entire era.

Stressing the reliable provision of human rights and freedoms in Azerbaijan and increase of the country's prestige in Europe, the statement noted that large-scale reforms are continued to enhance the market economy in Azerbaijan,

MPs called on the Azerbaijani people to unite in the name of national goals and interests.

The Parliament Speaker Oktay Asadov said that 21 meetings were held and 253 laws were adopted during the parliament's fall session. Some 297 visits were made to 44 countries during the year, the deputies took part in presidential elections in four countries and parliamentary elections in seven countries. Azerbaijani parliament received 1091 foreign delegations, five international parliamentary events were held.
