Azerbaijani President receives ITU Secretary-General - PHOTO

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Hamadoun Toure.

Hamadoun Toure said had eye-witnessed big development in Azerbaijan every time he visited the country since 2003.

The ITU Secretary-General recalled President Ilham Aliyev`s participation in a summit of the International Telecommunication Union in Geneva and his words that “I will convert the black gold into the human capital”. Hamadoun Toure noted these words have already become a reality.

He said the 7th Internet Governance Forum was excellently organized in Baku. The Secretary-General stressed the necessity of expanding cooperation between the organization and the country even more.

The Head State noted Azerbaijan had gained great achievements in the non-oil sector over the last nine years, including in information and communication technologies field. The Azerbaijani leader stressed the importance of holding the 7th Internet Governance Forum in Baku.

President Ilham Aliyev described this as a vivid evidence of ITU`s praising what Azerbaijan had been doing on this front.
