'Armenia`s actions derails OSCE MG's efforts to find peaceful solution to conflict '

03 November 2012 [12:38] - TODAY.AZ
Bishkek-based Turkish-speaking states Support Foundation has released a statement on the attempts of Armenians to use Khojaly airport located in the Azerbaijani lands occupied by Armenia.

The statement says that these efforts sparked a protest of Azerbaijanis living in Kyrgyzstan. Foundation discussed it at the meeting of Supreme Council and strongly condemned it.

By putting into operation the Khojaly airport by Armenia and preparations for illegal use of Azerbaijan`s air runs counter to not only the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, international legal norms and principles but also aviation norms.

"We consider Armenia set itself a goal of prolonging the existing status-quo as long as possible. One thing should not be forgotten that the world community, international organizations, leading states reiterated they unequivocally recognize Nagorno-Karabakh as the territory of Azerbaijan and this state`s," the statement says.

The statement underlines that any activity in the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan can be carried out only after withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the occupied lands, return of displaced Azerbaijanis to their homes and ensuring peaceful coexistence between Azerbaijani and Armenian communities.

It says Armenia`s illegal actions derails OSCE Minsk Group`s efforts to find a peaceful solution to the conflict. The Foundation pointed out that flights to the Khojaly airport are possible only by the permit of Baku.

The Foundation said it supports resolute steps of the leadership of the Republic of Azerbaijan and urges the Armenian government to give up these intentions and leave occupied lands as soon as possible.
