'Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina always supported each other`s stance within int'l organizations' - PHOTOS

 Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegovic has today visited Azerbaijan`s Parliament, where he met with speaker Ogtay Asadov.

Prior to the meeting, Bakir Izetbegovi? viewed a meeting hall of the Parliament. The chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina toured national leader Heydar Aliyev`s memorial hall here, where he viewed documents and photographs reflecting different periods of the national leader`s life and career. Mr. Izetbegovic signed the guest book.

The Milli Majlis Speaker said Bosnia and Herzegovina was Azerbaijan`s friend. Asadov noted Bakir Izetbegovic`s visit to Azerbaijan would contribute to developing cooperation between the two countries.

The Speaker said both countries gained independence at the same period which saw dramatic events happen both in Azerbaijan and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“That`s why our countries and people understand each other very well in such situations.”
Asadov noted Azerbaijan and Bosnia and Herzegovina had always supported each other`s stance within international organizations.

The Speaker recalled Armenian military forces` crimes against Azerbaijan, adding some countries` parliaments recognized the Khojaly genocide. “Recognition of this genocide by Bosnia and Herzegovina`s parliament would be important for Azerbaijan.”

Asadov spoke of further development of bilateral relationship between the two countries.
He stressed the necessity of establishing an intergovernmental economic commission for development of trade relations between Azerbaijan and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He said friendship groups in the two countries` legislative bodies must be strengthened for boosting interparliamentary ties.

Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Bakir Izetbegovic said the dispute must be settled on the basis of the norms and principles of international law and Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.

He noted meetings in Baku would contribute to expanding bilateral relations between the two countries.

The chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina stressed the necessity of developing existing political and economic cooperation even more.

“I hope Azerbaijan`s gas will reach Bosnia and Herzegovina because we need Azerbaijan`s gas and investment. Bosnia and Herzegovina has a favorable climate for Azerbaijan`s investments.”
