Ukraine's Independence Day marked in Azerbaijan

The Embassy of Ukraine in Azerbaijan arranged on Thursday an official function to mark the country`s Independence Day.

Opening the event, ambassador Oleksandr Mishchenko spoke of Ukraine`s development path that the country had passed after regaining independence. Touching upon the relationship between Ukraine and Azerbaijan, the ambassador said it was developing successfully.

Azerbaijan`s Minister of Communications and Information Technologies, Ali Abbasov congratulated the Ukrainian people on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev. The Minister spoke of the history of relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine.

He said Azerbaijan-Ukraine ties, founded by national leader Heydar Aliyev, were successfully continued by presidents Ilham Aliyev and Viktor Yanukovych.

The reception was attended by officials, MPs, diplomats and representatives of general public.
