Relatives of Azerbaijani poets jailed in Iran meet with judge

Parents and relatives of Azerbaijani poets Farid Huseyn and Shahriyar Hajizade, arrested in Iran, met with the judge carrying out their lawsuit, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesman Elman Abdullayev said on Thursday.

A representative of the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Tabriz also attended the meeting.

"The judge carrying out the lawsuit told relatives of those arrested that clarification is being made on the case, but the judgement day is not yet known," Abdullayev said.

Azerbaijani poets Farid Huseyn and Shahriyar Hajizade were arrested in Iran on May 2 whilst taking part in the poetry festival.
