Armenian diplomats agrees Khojaly genocide was intentional

Armenian MPs said at the winter session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Vienna that the Khojaly genocide was committed intentionally, deputy speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament and head of the Azerbaijani delegation to OSCE PA Bahar Muradova told Trend today.

"The Azerbaijani delegation sent its appeals and issue to the secretary of the OSCE PA organisation at its first winter session," she said. "It was stressed that events relating to the 20th anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy are being held these days.

"Azerbaijan sees the Khojaly events as a crime against humanity, as well as a symbol of impunity for the perpetrators of this crime and protests against it. The establishment of the OSCE Minsk Group is marked along with the 20th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide. Unfortunately, the OSCE was unable to give a required estimate of the Armenian aggression, including such heinous crimes as the Khojaly genocide."

She said that the Armenian side quite emotionally responded to the questions raised by the Azerbaijani delegation. While protesting, the Armenian MPs said that Armenians were departed from the places where they lived during the conflict in Ganja, Sumgait and other Azerbaijani cities. As a response, they committed Khojaly genocide.

"Thus, the Armenians have proven that they deliberately committed Khojaly genocide," Ms Muradova said.

The Armenian military forces committed genocide in Khojaly on Feb. 26, 1992. Some 613 people were killed, including 63 children, 106 women and 70 old men. A total of 1000 civilians were injured during the genocide. Eight families were slaughtered, 130 children lost one parent and 25 lost both. Additionally, 1275 innocent residents were taken hostage, while the fate of 150 remains unknown.
