‘Toughened relations with Baku not in interests of Tehran’

Azerbaijani political analyst Elman Nasirli said the Iranian media has long been campaigning against Azerbaijan. But lately, it is even more intensified, he stated when commenting on anti-Azerbaijani campaign in the Iranian media.

According to the data, Iran allocated about $1bln in 2010 to build a cyber army. Even Google expressed a concern over this, he said.
 
"I think that this explains the recent hacker attacks on the Azerbaijani websites. Moreover, the Iranian media did not cease to interfere in Azerbaijan’s internal affairs. The Iranian TV ‘Seher’ is more active in this. So, one of the main principles of international law - principle of noninterference in the domestic affairs of another sovereign country- is violated here. Moreover, some forces in Iran are trying to destabilize the situation in our country,” he noted.

Iran’s destructive actions against Azerbaijan can be summarized in three points; to tarnish Azerbaijan in the Iranian media; to represent our country in the eyes of the international community as dangerous; to prevent the success of the Eurovision 2012 in Baku.

"Tehran is trying to represent our country as unstable for foreigners. In anyway, I believe that Tehran is acting to damage of itself,” Nasirli underlined.
 
Nasirli stressed that the deterioration of relations with friendly Baku is not in interests of Tehran. Iran, he said, should seriously think about its politics, especially at a time when more international sanctions maybe imposed on it.

"The situation is evolving at a very dangerous scenario for Iran, some experts even forecast even a military confrontation. In this regard, Tehran should not get new enemies. Besides, Azerbaijan announced that its territory will never be used against Iran,” he noted.
