Azerbaijani President holds series of meetings - PHOTOS

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev yesterday received president of European People`s Party (EPP) Wilfried Martens.  The Head of State pointed out rapid development of relations between Azerbaijan and European Institutes. President Ilham Aliyev stressed importance of Eastern Partnership summit in Poland which was held in September.

Recalling his Brussels visit and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso`s Azerbaijan visit, President Ilham Aliyev underlined importance of such events in terms of European Union-Azerbaijan cooperation. The Head of State expressed confidence that Wilfried Martens`s visit would contribute to expansion of cooperation between EPP and New Azerbaijan Party.

EPP President Wilfried Martens handed over Azerbaijani-language edition of his book entitled “Europe: I Struggle, I Overcome” to the Head of State. Mr. Martens informed the President on the meetings he held at the New Azerbaijan Party and added that he is interested in deepening ties between EPP and the New Azerbaijan Party.

President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan yesterday received Montenegro`s ex-president and Premier, Chairman of the Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro Milo Djkanovic. Head of the Azerbaijani State said the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Montenegro have reached good level last years. Reminding the last visit of the head of Montenegrin president to Azerbaijan and the visit of Azerbaijani delegation to Montenegro, President Aliyev stressed importance of reciprocal visits in development of these relations. He expressed hope the current visit of Milo Djkanovic would serve continuation of bilateral relations.

Montenegro`s ex-president and Premier, Chairman of the Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro Milo Djkanovic reminded his visit to Azerbaijan in 2006, when the two presidents addressed the conference participants. Mr. Djkanovic congratulated Azerbaijan`s President for such rapid development in country, the accomplishments the republic achieved in versatile fields. Prospects of bilateral relations were in focus.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev yesterday received former President of Latvia, founder of “Zatler`s Reforms Party” Valdis Zatlers. The sides stressed successful development of bilateral relations. They recalled previous meetings and pointed out existence of good potential for expanding ties between the two countries.
