Book by Belgium’s former PM presented in Azerbaijan

A presentation of the Azerbaijani-language edition of the book entitled “Europe: I Struggle, I Overcome” by Belgium`s former Prime Minister and president of the European People`s Party (EPP) Wilfried Martens held in Baku.

The event has brought together members of Azerbaijani parliament, diplomats, public figures and journalists.  Speaking in the event, Vice-Speaker of Azerbaijani parliament Bahar Muradova touched on author`s active role in international processes.

Chairman of Azerbaijani parliament`s committee for international and interparliamentary relations Samad Seyidov said the book includes important insights on protection of the European values. He expressed hope the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) and EPP will further expand relations.

Attending the event, co-chair of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) Jose Claveria de Venecia stressed that translation of the book into Azerbaijani language will be welcomed by the readers with the great interest. Venecia highlighted that Azerbaijan has become the center of the inter-civilization dialogue and developed rapidly in the recent years.

The 10-paragraph book translated into the Azerbaijani language by Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AzerTAc) covers 46 photos taken from the various meetings and international events.
Author of the book Wilfried Martens recalled his first Azerbaijan visit last year. He hailed relations between the EPP and the New Azerbaijan Party and expressed confidence the ties would further strengthen.
