British pets to receive £26 billion inheritance...?

01 August 2011 [13:37] - TODAY.AZ
British citizens have been predicted to leave their pets over £26bn ($42bn) in their wills.

A survey conducted by More Than Pet Insurance found that 35% of pet owners are due to bequeath more than £10,000 ($16,400) to their beloved animals, with many of them choosing to do so in secret.

An additional 37% admitted that they will leave more to their pets than a close relative or friend, while over a fifth of owners are going to hand over their family home.

25% of the dogs, cats and creatures of the UK are also due to inherit a series of sentimental items, such as their favorite furniture and pictures with their owner.

Half of the people surveyed who included pets in their wills did so to spare them from a rescue center, More Than adds.

Famed fashion designer Alexander McQueen, who committed suicide in February 2010, was revealed to have left £50,000 ($82,000) to his dogs Minter, Callum and Juice.
