Baku to host ten-pin bowling tournament

A bowling center in Ganjlik Mall will host a tournament among fans of ten-pin on April 7.

The competition is devoted to the Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games, which will be held on May 12-22. The winners will be awarded with valuable prizes, Trend Life reported.

The tournament will start at 11:00.

Today the sport of bowling is played by in more than 90 countries worldwide

The most common types of pin bowling are ten-pin, nine-pin, candlepin, duckpin and five-pin bowling, while in target bowling, bowls, skittles, kegel, bocce, carpet bowls, pétanque and others.

Ten-pin bowling is one of the most popular type of bowling.

It is a game in which a  "bowler" rolls a bowling ball down a wood-structure or synthetic (polyurethane) lane and towards ten pins positioned at the end of the lane. The objective is to score points by knocking down as many pins as possible. Three finger holes are drilled into a traditional bowling ball, and weights vary considerably to make the sport playable for all ages.
