Emil Afrasiyab joins international festival in Greece

 Winner of the Montreux jazz festival Emil Afrasiyab with financial support of Azerbaijan`s Embassy to Greece has participated in the international jazz festival, in Tinos Greece.
The Azeri pianist performed jazz compositions by George Gershwin and Miles Davis combined elements of the Azerbaijan`s national music.

The genre known as mougkam (mugham) jazz was created in the mid 60's in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, and then became well-known around the world.

Emil Afrasiyab graduated the musical school of Bulbul. He has performed in Germany, Britain, France, Czech Republic, Austria, Greece, USA, Cuba, Mexico, China and other states. He is an activist of Azerbaijani culture festivals in foreign states. In 2011, he received the prize of audience sympathies at the 45th International Jazz Montreux Festival in (Switzerland).
