
The second meeting of the Azerbaijan and Hungarian intergovernmental commissions on economic cooperation was held on Friday in Baku. Hungarian side was represented by the delegation led by Rosa Nad, State Secretary of the Hungarian ministry of economy.
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev emphasized the role of the Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Hungary and the Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Obrana’s visit to Azerbaijan in the development of political, economic and cultural cooperation between two countries.
The Azerbaijani official also briefed the guests on the country’s economic growth, expansion of business ties and development of the investment climate. Azerbaijan is actively involved in ensuring energy security of Europe, Mustafayev said. The minister also dwelled on the expansion of regional cooperation and important infrastructure and transportation projects.
Touching upon the problem of Nagorno Karabakh, the minister said that 20 percent of Azerbaijan was occupied by Armenian armed forces with more than 1 million ethnic Azerbaijanis become refugees. Ms. Rosa Nads, in turn, said Hungary attaches great importance to the expansion of cooperation with Azerbaijan.
The sides discussed bilateral trade and investment opportunities, the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, cooperation in the field of environmental protection, culture, industry, finance, banking, health care and other areas.
