Azerbaijan preparing to realize investment projects in alternative energy sphere

Azerbaijan, with the support of international organizations, is preparing to carry out investment projects in the field of alternative energy, the Deputy Director of the State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy Jamil Malikov said.

“The specialists are engaged in carrying out the calculations for the construction of hydropower stations along several rivers. As a result of these works, construction project will be selected for small hydropower stations with capacity of 1 MW and the agency will hold announce on this project. In order to increase the attractiveness of these projects, there is no need to use separate tariffs or other incentives. Participation of international organizations in this project in the form of grant support is the best encouragement”.

Malikov said currently, preparations works were underway on 11 small hydropower stations with capacity of 0.5-3 MW.
