Azerbaijan customs officers participate in conference in Cracow

Azerbaijan customs officers’ delegation led by Chair of State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan Aydin Aliyev participated in high-level seminar on capacity building for trade facilitation for customs administrations of the EU, Candidate Countries and the countries of Eastern Partnership in Cracow, Poland.

Entitled “Towards better co-operation”, the conference in Cracow has become a continuation of the involvement of EU customs authorities in the development of cooperation with Eastern Partnership countries this year. The main theme of the meeting was creation of potential in the field of trade facilitation, and exchange of views and best practices on this topic.

The seminar has brought together representatives of customs services from 36 countries, the World Customs Organization, the European Commission and the European Union. The meeting ended with the adoption of an Eastern Partnership Declaration, constituting the Eastern Partnership Customs Strategy, specifying further steps for its adoption by EU member states, Eastern Partnership countries and the European Commission.

Addressing the conference, Aydin Aliyev described the customs service’s activity in Azerbaijan, IT and “electronic government” system and gave detailed information about future prospects.
The themes of the seminar’s presentation included strategies for bilateral cooperation between the EU and Eastern Partnership countries.

The meeting was attended by the heads of the customs administrations of European Union member states and countries included in the Eastern Partnership.
