Ukraine to purchase Azerbaijani gas directly from Georgia

Ukraine intends to purchase Azerbaijani gas directly from terminal in Kulevi (Georgia, Black Sea).

The terminal in Ukraine will serve to the tankers to be departed to Romania on AGRI project, said the Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey Sergei Korsunkiy to Todays Zaman newspaper.

According to him, Baku and Kiev has signed a contract on energy cooperation and construction project of natural gas compressor plant in Ukrainian bank in Black Sea is considered. Ambassador noted that, the enterprise would be able to receive 2 bcm of gas and transport it. But, it’s planned to increase this volume to 10 bcm in 2015.

Speaking about Russia’s role in gas market Korsinskiy noted that, Azerbaijan-Ukraine cooperation will put an end the Moscow’s supremacy: “Azerbaijani gas will weaken this monopoly and at least will create conditions for talks”. He also noted that, no one wanted new gas war with Russia: “We want only equitable price”.
