Abulfas Garayev: Additional hotels are being prepared to be opened for "Eurovision 2012"

The number of tourists, who visited Azerbaijan during 6 months of this year, increased by 9% in comparison with the last year, Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev told journalists.

Minister also spoke about work carried out in the country on “Eurovision” song contest which will be held in Baku in 2012: “The tourist agencies form their packages on it. We are preparing to the opening if additional hotels and the discussions are held on topic of pricing policy in the hotels. We think that the prices will be announced in the Internet as well as materials of tourist companies. But this work will have a single center. The headquarters on implementing the accommodation of guests and the other issues will be established. This headquarters will be formed by Heydar Aliyev Foundation”.

With regard to functioning of 2-star and 3-star hotels in Azerbaijan, especially in Baku, this case is related to the entrepreneurs. We should only recommend them that the construction of such hotels can attract more tourists. Therefore, considering that this music festival will attract mostly young people, we will encourage the construction of 2-star and 3-star hotels.

Minister noted that the work on the venue of “Eurovision” was reflected in the corresponding order of the Azerbaijani president.
