Azerbaijan Credit Unions to be represented at ACCU's 40-year anniversary

The Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU) headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand, will celebrate its 40th anniversary on Thursday.

The Azerbaijan Credit Unions Association (AKİA), as a member, had been invited to take part in this important event.

ACCU is an organization that is a regional federation of credit unions and similar financial cooperative institutions in Asia. Founded as an international organization in April, 28, 1971, the Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU) presently unites 21 947 credit unions with 38,1 million individual members in 26 Asian countries in the region along with 34 affiliates promoting credit unionism in Asia.

ACCU works in partnership with member organizations (associations and other credit union federations within a country) to achieve stable development of credit unionism. The organization's main object is to promote credit unions as effective instruments of population's socio-economic development.

ACCU has launched a number of holiday events on this occasion one of which is publishing a commemorative book. The past, present and future of Azerbaijan's credit union movement, as well as the country's credit unions' contribution into the international credit co-operation development, are expected to be reflected in the issue.

Azerbaijan Credit Unions Association (AKİA) became the member of the Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU) during the 69th meeting of the international organization held in India on March 17, 2010 when the Board of Directors officially approved AKIA's entrance in it.
