Washington energy summit to discuss Azerbaijan issue

The 2010 Washington Energy Summit, titled, "Securing the World`s Energy Needs with a Practical Mix of Traditional and Alternative Fuels,” will be held on September 23, 2010.

The conference will examine the intersection between energy policies, resources and technologies from a global perspective. It will focus on the need to accommodate both fossil and renewable fuels, balancing support for vital traditional fuels with encouragement of promising alternatives.

U.S. and foreign government officials, Members of Congress, energy industry executives, environmentalists, advocacy association leaders, academics, and journalists will participate as speakers and registrants. Azerbaijani ambassador Yashar Aliyev and Ukraine's Foreign Minister Grishenko are the only speakers from the CIS invited to participate in the summit.

The agenda of the summit also includes role of Azerbaijan as energy supplier, accident in the Mexican Gulf and other issues.
