Azerbaijan negotiates export of 27 types of defense products

“Currently, negotiations are underway with several countries on the export of 27 kinds of our products that we presented at the international exhibition in Istanbul in April 2009,” the minister said in his interview with local AzTv TV channel.

Jamalov said the Ministry of Defense Industry is planning to implement a number of new projects, including reconstruction of the 12 types of manufacturing industries, purchase of modern equipment from a number of developed countries for the production of eight types of product defense in 2010. In addition, negotiations are held to purchase the latest equipment to start production of another five or six kinds of products.

“In the meantime, production of military equipment has started in Baku in collaboration with South African Paramount Group. In particular, we are negotiating about armor cars Matador and Marauder, which will be handed over to the Defense Ministry already in the first half of this year. Besides, sniper rifles of various calibres are planned to be manufactured in 2010-2011,” he added.

“This year we are planning to take part in three international exhibitions: in Jordan in May, in South Africa in September and in Greece in November. We will try to provide a wide range of products,” Jamalov noted.
