First Vice Premier: "There is a plan to reduce poverty level of population to the level of economically developed countries by 2015 in Azerbaijan"

"In 2008 GDP of Azerbaijan made AZN 38 bln growing 10.8% as compared to 2007, said first vice premier Yagub Eyubov making a report of the Azerbaijani government by results of the socioeconomic development of the country in 2008.
As is noted, in five years Azerbaijan opened 766,000 new jobs with 547,000 permanent.

The government is implementing the poverty reduction and economic development program intended for until 2016. According to Eyubov, the program is intended to reduce poverty rate of population in Azerbaijan until the level of the economically developing states by 2015.

"Through five years the poverty rate in the country dropped 3.4 times down to 13.2% now. Since 2003 the average salary grew 3.5 times, pensions 3.8 times", said he.

Through the past five years the state budget of the country grew by over 10 times.

"If in 2003 the budget made $1.2 bln, in 2008 it made 13 bln", noted Eyubov.

By results of 2008 the strategic monetary reserves of the country topped $18 bln.

"Azerbaijan attaches a special importance to development of the fuel and energy economic sphere. Through five years the volume of oil production rose 2.9 times, gas by over 3 times. Azerbaijan has turned from a producing country into an energy supplier", announced he.
