Sumato Energy purchases next Azeri Light oil shipment from Azerbaijan

SOCAR department of Marketing and Economic Operations declared Sumato Energy Group Limited (New Zealand) the purchaser of 1 mln barrels of AzeriLight oil, according to the press service for SOCAR.
Oil will be shipped from the Ceyhan port on March 1-5 of 2009.

Notably, the BTC pipeline extends to 1768 kilometers with 443 in Azerbaijan, 249 in Georgia and 1076 in Turkey. The daily transportation capacity of the pipeline is 1 million barrels. It takes crude oil 10 days to pass from one end of the pipeline to another. The pipeline construction started in April of 2003 and its oil filling on May 18 of 2005. Oil reached the Georgian section of the pipeline on August 10 of 2005, Turkish section on November 18 of 2005, Ceyhan terminal on May 28 of 2006.

First tanker load of the Caspian oil was launched to Europe from the Ceyhan port on June 4 of 2006 and the opening ceremony of the pipeline started in Ceyhan on July 13 of 2006.

The pipeline shareholders are BP (30.1%), AzBTC (25%), Chevron (8.9%), Statoil (8.71%), TPAO (6.53%), ENI (5%), Total (5%), Itochu (3.4%), INPEX (2.5%0, ConocoPhillips (2.5%) and Amerada Hess (2.36%).
