20 August 2008 [10:30] - TODAY.AZ
The recent events in Georgia may have a negative impact on the GDP growth rates in Azerbaijan, said Economic Development Minister Heydar Babayev.
He noted that Azerbaijan's GDP is mainly bound to the oil sector.

"The events in Georgia have created definite problems for Azerbaijan. Thus, decline in oil production is observed. Depending on the duration of the happenings, the forecasts on GDP growth rates in Azerbaijan may change.

But, I believe, the problems will be settled soon and GDP forecasts will remain changeless".

He also noted that the events in Georgia did not cause price hike in Azerbaijani market.
