Georgian side is trying to reconstruct an old railway line to resume transportation of oil products from Azerbaijan to its ports, reports Day.Az with reference to ANS TV channel.
According to Isfendiyar Kerimov, chief of department of transportation process regulation of the state railway administration, 450 empty cisterns and 650 carriages load of oil, which must return to the country, remain on the other side of the destroyed bridge near the Kaspi city in Georgia.
He noted that Georgian side, as an alternative, attempts to restore a railway line near the bridge. He said the work for the reconstruction of this line must finish tomorrow, which will be followed by the reconstruction of the railway communication of Azerbaijan with the ports of Poti and Batumi.
Meanwhile, a source from the Beyuk Kesik station told the TV channel that there are no problems with passenger transportations in the Georgian direction. Passenger trains move in line with the schedule. The problem is said to be only in oil and oil products transportation. Thus, there are 136 carriages load of oil products at the station.
