Azerbaijani cargo transshipment via Georgian ports halted

Georgian ports of Poti and Batumi do not accept Azerbaijani cargo due to the recent events in South Ossetia, said the press service for the Azerbaijani State Railway Service, according to Interfax-Azerbaijan.
"We are unable to send our cargoes to Poti and Batumi, therefore, we direct the freight trains to sidings", announced the press service.

As for the majority of freight trains, concentrated on the sidings on the Georgian borders and some trains in the territory of Georgia, the press service noted:

"We are not consulting with our Georgian colleagues on the terms of sending trains to Georgian ports", added he.

At the same time, it was noted that there are no problems with passenger transportations by the railroad and passenger trains are following the schedule.
