Construction of rubbish recycling plant in Azerbaijan to take EUR 350 mln

As was  reported previously, the Azerbaijan Economic Development Ministry declared CNIM the winner of the tender for the plant construction. The draft contract is currently being coordinated with the French Company.

"The plant will locate in Balakhany settlement (Baku) on the territory of 10 hectares. 125,000 tons of sludge will be produced in the result of garbage processing and sent for road construction", noted Berte.

The plant construction is planned to be initiated in December of 2008 and it will last for three years. CNIM will operate the plans within 10 years and under mutual agreement this term may be prolonged for another 20 years.

Deputy Economic Development Minister Mikail Jabbarov said speaking at the presentation that the plant capacity will allow processing up to 500,000 tons of garbage each year.

Moreover, the plant will produce 213,500 MW/H of energy with 15% to meet the demands of the plant and the rest to be sent to the energy system of the country.

It should be noted that the plant is planned to be constructed from the budget but it is not excluded that external investments will be raised. The state investment program for 2008 allocates over AZN 100 mln for the plant construction.

Earlier Economic Development Minister Heydar Babayev announced that there are household wastes in the volume of 775,000 tons in Baku and its suburbs and they should be processed.

4 companies from France, Austria, Germany and Russia presented their bids for participation in the tender.
