Azerbaijan introduces draft resolution to support EITI to UN Secretariat

The resolution was presented on February 13.

The due information has been provided by Shahmar Movsumov, chairman of the intergovernmental commission on EITI and chief executive of the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan at today's session of the commission.

According to the press service for SOFAR, S.Movsumov said that the discussions of the draft resultion have already been launched.

It should be reminded that he had earlier voiced hope that the resolution will be adopted in September of 2008.

Shahmar Movsumov informed the session participants about Azerbaijan's recent achievements on introduction of the EITI.

Movsumov also reminded that the number of companies, which joined the Initiative, has reached 26, which means almost all oil and gas companies, operating in Azerbaijan. The session participants also discussed amendments and alterations to the Memorandum of Joining the EITI.
