Azerbaijan's Minister of Industry and Energy Natik Aliyev met with Georgia's Energy Minister Alexander Khetaguri, currently visiting Baku.
The due announcement was made by a source from the Ministry of Industry and Energy.
The meeting participants discussed transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Georgia and situation in the country due to cold weather. It was noted during the talks that Azerbaijan intends to bring the price of gas supplied to Georgia to the world level.
"It is nearly $180-200 per 1,000 cubic meters".
The sides agreed to coordinate a new contract on the sale and purchase of gas until March.
It should be reminded that Azerbaijan was supplied 1,000,000 cubic meters of gas per day on average for $120 per 1,000 cubic meters by the old pipeline. As the term of the contract has expired, Azerbaijan stopped supplies in January of this year.
The sides currently negotiate the new price and volumes of supply.
By the information of Georgia's Energy Ministry, official Tbilisi will continue import of Azerbaijan gas if it is cheaper than Russian ($235 per 1,000 cubic meters.
It should be noted that Georgia also receives Azerbaijani gas by the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline. At the initial stage Georgia receives 250,000,000 cubic meters per year as a fee for transit.
