Aztelecom PU of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies has completed transition to electronic telephone exchange system by 70%.

The rate increased 5% in 2007.
The capacity of exchanges was upgraded to 644,000 numbers in 2007.
A total of 20 million AZN went to investment projects for 62,000 number capacity, construction of 442km fiber-optic cable, 14km cables and about 30,000 landlines to customers.
Telephone exchanges were built in 35 villages of 5 regions and exchanges of 7,202 number capacity were constructed in Gandja.
CDMA network was made available in 5 regions and exchanges of 5,000 were commissioned.
Exchanges in 30 villages of 20 regions and in 10 regions were extended by 5,364 numbers.
Analog telephone exchanges in 63 villages of 24 regions and in Terter, Shamakhi and Imishli were upgraded to electronic exchanges.
108 new jobs were created during this period.
