SOCAR meets with WB representatives

State Oil Company (SOCAR) President Rovnag Abdullayev has today met with World Bank Country Manager for Azerbaijan, Gregory Jedrzejczak, and Lead Economist for South Caucasus, Christian Petersen.

As APA reports, the World Bank representatives highlighted intensification of efforts to purify oil-contaminated territory of Absheron Peninsula. The meeting discussed prospects of cooperation between the World Bank and the Government of Azerbaijan, including SOCAR to clean the environment in the country.

Rovnag Abdullayev said the company is working on a large scale ecological program.

He touched upon squatting of the oil-polluted lands by individuals and noted that the process of removing them is under way. He added that this process is one of the components of the program.
