07 April 2007 [11:39] - TODAY.AZ
Airports being constructed in Shaki and Zagatala will be commissioned by the year-end, deputy general director of AzAl State Concern Etibar Huseynov told journalists.

He said that Lenkeran airport will be given international airport status, APA reports.

"Lenkeran airport will be able to receive Antonov (400 tones) or Boeing-747 planes. Zagatala airport will have no international status and mainly receive small planes, as the airport’s landing strip does not meet standards of International Civil Aviation Organization," he said.

Huseynov did not rule out that a Boeing-747 cargo aircraft made a trial landing in Ganja International Airport will land here regularly.

"Ganja International Airport meets standards of International Civil Aviation Organization. This airport can at the same time receive two Boeing-747 and six TU-154 planes," he said.

The deputy director of AzAl said that the commission set up with regard to the plane, en-route Baku-Aktau, crashed in Baku airspace in December, 2005 continues its activity, and the public will soon be informed of the results of the investigation.
