Azerbaijan to launch its satellite by 2009-2010

Azerbaijani Communications and Information Technologies Ministry are discussing with international organizations the issue of orbiting national communications satellite. The country is carrying out technical and economic assessment for launching the satellite.

"Azerbaijan can launch its own communications satellite by 2009-2010," said Azerbaijan's Telecommunications and Information Technologies Minister Ali Abbasov, APA-Economics reports.

He also said the Tariff Council is considering the proposals to limit excessive home phone use.

The minister added that the ministry is currently taking serious action to ensure that the websites of the country are secure.
