Azerbaijan's foreign debt 9.9% of GDP, at $2.29 bln

Azerbaijan's foreign debt stood at 1.97 billion manat ($2.293 billion) as of January 1, 2007, the Finance Ministry said Monday.

The ministry's press service said the state's debt totals 9.9% of GDP, which reached $23.16 billion last year, and that debt per capita is $232.5.

The service said loans intended for economic reforms constitute 20% of total foreign debt, including 6.8% from the International Monetary Fund and 13.2% from the World Bank. RIA Novosti
