12 January 2007 [11:09] - TODAY.AZ
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Iran Abbasali Hassanov emphasizing that Baku CeBit Exhibition is a threshold for entry of Iranians to Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and EU markets.

He reiterated, "This exhibition’s section for Russian speaking countries, CIS, is called CeBITCIS."

Hassannvv added, "Although sixteen years has passed since the disintegration of the Soviet Union, since the residents of all CIS republics had spoken Russian for 70 years the strength of that language has still been preserved, so that the 370 million people in eighteen countries speak the Russian language today. "The economy of these countries, too, is still influenced by the communist era economy and they all still have closed economies."

"Basically, since they do not speak the English language their contacts with the West is very limited and as a result, due to the average 5% economic growth rate, the 70% mobile phone penetration and the 35% Internet penetration, coupled with the increasing educated population in CSI republics, the holding of an IT event in the region can be effective in boosting the CIS IT market," he added.

"Presence of Iranians active at ICT field at this exhibition can ensure their more active presence at China and Turkey CeBIT exhibitions."

Hassanev also referred to the objectives behind holding the exhibition, arguing, "The participation of a large number of Russian speaking companies at the event and providing a competition scene in the region are among most important objectives of this event's organizers."

He reiterated, "An interpreter is allocated to any company taking part at this exhibition and the price of the booths, too, is really low (US $230 per square meter), which are encouraging factors for participants."

Hassanov emphasized, "Based on arrangements made for holding the event and harmonizing with Iran, the IRI Commerce Ministry would have a special booth at the exhibition and a large number of Iranian telecom firms, too, such as SaIran, Iran Electronic Accessories Industries, and Iran Telecom Industries (ITI), would take part at the fair under the title of FIDC (consortium), as well as Nian Electronic and Atlas Top Net would have a 400 square meter space at the exhibition."

He reiterated, "ICT Ministries of Azerbaijan, the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine, as well as Azerbaijan branch of the Microsoft, some firms from Turkey, Romania, Estonia, and United States, and 19 companies from throughout Iran would participate at the international fair."

Ambassador expressed hope that Baku CeBIT Exhibition, scheduled for July 9th to 12th 2007 would boost ICT transactions and trade between Iran and Azerbaijan. Taliya News
