Azerenergy: "No investment in Absheron power grid during past years"

The capacity of the electricity should be 2 500 megawatts. New stations were commissioned in Astara and Sheki plus three more stations will be put into use in Khachmaz, Nakhchivan and Baku.

"High voltage electric mains are also under repair. We work hard to improve the system because of upcoming winter. We terminated the agreement with Bayva and the agreement with Barmek will also be terminated shortly. Almost no investment was made in Absheron power grid during past 4-5 years. That's why we face more problems than we expected," he said.

He said that last year the energy consumption reached 2 050 megawatts on New Year Day in Baku and Sumgait while the consumption is 2 000 megawatts in evenings, APA reports.
