Chicken and egg price rise because of expensive feed imports

08 November 2006 [11:31] - TODAY.AZ
"Local poultry farms shouldn't be blamed for Chicken and egg price jump in market. Azerbaijan imports 95% of the feedstuffs, as well as medicines and eggs for incubation from abroad. The prices don't go down because the feed prices are high," Azerbaijan Poultry Company chair Aydin Valiyev stated.

He also said that local producers provide eggs for the market at 8-9 kopecks (400-450 old manats) each and chicken per kilo at AZN 2.4-2.5 (12-12.5 thousand old manats).

Egg price is 12-13 kopecks (600-650 old manats) and chicken per kilo AZN 2.6-2.7 (13-14 thousand old manats).

Azerbaijan imports feedstuffs, eggs and medicine from the Netherlands, Iran and Turkey, APA reports.
