30 July 2006 [03:42] - TODAY.AZ
There will be no problems with construction of the Kars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku railway, deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov said.

According to him, governments of Azerbaijan and Turkey share the same opinion on this matter. The Turkish side has prepared the technical and economic assessment to present it to the participating states. During the recent visit to Astana, Ziya Mammadov, Transport Minister of Azerbaijan once again discussed this matter with his Georgian and Turkish counterparts.

The construction of the Kars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku railway will begin in 2007. The project will face no financial squeezes. President Ilham Aliyev took a principled stand towards the realization of the project.

On Eximbank's crediting the project, A. Sharifov said the railway construction would be funded from other sources, including Azerbaijan's internal possibilities.
