President of SOCAR meets ITOCHU delegation

President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) Rovnaq Abdullayev met June 13 with delegation of the energy and mineral resources division of ITOCHU Corporation of Japan led by Yoichi Kobayashi.

As AzerTAg reports, Rovnaq Abdullayev stressed the important role ITOCHU played in realization of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (the BTC) main oil export pipeline project.

Yoichi Kobayashi said ITOCHU and SOCAR have a ten-year history of successful cooperation implementing a variety of projects both in oil and non-oil sectors. He noted that the Japanese corporation attaches particular importance to the BTC project.

The head of the Japanese delegation said that ITOCHU President will attend a ceremony of BTC inauguration in Turkey, and then will come to Azerbaijan to conduct negotiations.

Mr. Kobayashi added that he was satisfied that the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli project is going on in accordance with schedule, and is kept within its budget.

He said the ITOCHU wants to participate in implementing the oil projects in Azerbaijan in the future.

SOCAR President responded with equal readiness to further cooperate with the Japanese company.

The parties also discussed transportation of the Kazakh oil via the BTC to the world markets.
