Azerenergy starts new substation construction in Salyan

13 June 2006 [09:44] - TODAY.AZ
OJSC Azerenergy starts the construction of a new 220KV substation in Salyan. Being considered for energy provision improvement in Salyan and Bilasuvar, the station is the main object of the electro energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran.

The Project's main contractor is Sunir Iran and the subcontractor is AZENCO Azerbaijan. 7,5 hectares land area nearby Salyan-Sabirabad headway has been fenced as a site area. Geological, land and topographical survey work have already been implemented there along with seismic researches. Communication is also provided. The land has been treated as necessary to make it fitting for the construction of administrative and control rooms. Staff is made of 60 local people, APA reports.

It is the first time in Azerbaijan that ferroconcrete columns are used instead of metallic ones. Building materials will be brought not only from the plant in Tehran, but also from an enterprise in Mingechevir.

The agreement on construction of Parsabad (Iran)-Astara (Azerbaijan) Power Line (PL) was achieved at August, 2004 meeting of presidents of Azerbaijan and Iran. Another $75 million credit line was signed that time. 85% of that amount will be financed by Eximbank Iran and the remaining 15% part will be provided by the Government of Azerbaijan.

It was also reported from Azerenergy that Iran is a traditional partner of Azerbaijan in the energy sector. Azerbaijan gets monthly 40-60 million KVT/hrs power energy from Iran. The volume of energy last year was 656,6 million KVT/hrs. 300 million KVT/hrs energy supply was approximately received from Iran in January-May this year. It is planned to construct 330 KVT/hrs Ali-Bayramli Thermo Power Station-Imishli PS and Imishli-Parsabad PS, 220 KVT/hrs Ali-Bayramli Thermo Power Station-Salyan PS, Salyan-Masalli, Masalli-Astara, as well as modern Salyan substation and to expand 4 relevant substations.

PS to be constructed within the project will have 350 kilometers length. Experts say that all of these will let Nakhchivan, which is under blockade for long years, receive 150 MV energy supply. Azerbaijan will obtain an opportunity to have 400 MV power supply in the energy system.
