Proposals on holding of population census in Azerbaijan to be submitted to President

The State Statistics Committee (SSC) applied to the Cabinet of Ministers with a proposal to hold population census in Azerbaijan in 2009.

As APA reports, journalists were informed about it by the chair of SSC Arif Veliyev.

According to the chair of the State Committee, the proposal is currently being discussed in the Cabinet of Ministers. The Prime-Minister is expected to apply to the President of the country in this connection in these days.

It should be reminded that according to the data of SSC, the number of the population in Azerbaijan by April 1 of 2006 was 8 million 460 thousand persons. It is 0.3% more than the beginning of the year. 51.6% of the population lives in cities, 48.4% in villages. 49% of the population is men, and 51% women. 24% of the population is under 14, 69% between 15-64, and 7% over 65.
