Eurasian Financial Workshop has completed its work

17 April 2006 [13:02] - TODAY.AZ
The International Bank of Azerbaijan expands its partnership abroad.

The main purpose of the II Eurasian Financial Workshop organized by the US Ministry of Trade and Industry (BISNIS) is the provision of market information, practical advice, leads, and referrals to U.S. and Eurasian companies of all sizes to facilitate U.S. exports and other forms of business development in CIS countries. BISNIS assists U.S. firms in evaluating, preparing for, and successfully pursuing new business activities in the region. BISNIS supports business and market development in Eurasia by helping firms and the local business support infrastructure (including government and associations) to understand, form partnerships, and successfully collaborate with U.S. business counterparts.

The event held April 5 this year was attended by Zaur Makhmudov, Head of the representative office of the International Bank of Azerbaijan in Frankfurt, whose five day business visit program to USA also included several IBA presentations.

Moreover, Mr. Makhmudov has held meetings with representative of the World Bank, International Financial Corporation, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Asian Development Bank, American-Azeri Chamber of Commerce, US Trade and Development Agency and other financial structures. During negotiations the parties have discussed the issues of further development of business relations between International Bank with regional development banks, American commercial banks, and state entities and directly with representatives of American business.

Later, April 6-7 Z. Makhmudov has attended the annual meeting of US EximBank, one of the main IBA partners. Within the meeting framework, attended by number of prominent representatives of US business establishment, top management of large corporations, as well as senators and congressmen, were held negotiations of primary importance to the Azerbaijan Bank.

In particular these are the continuation of contacts with US EximBank, with which IBA has implemented large projects, such as funding of purchasing of Boeing aircraft by Azerbaijan Airlines State Concern, Construction of Business Center in Baku by General Construction Company, several agricultural projects etc. Also meetings were held with large American Banks (Wachovia, Chase Bank, Commerzbank New York etc.) and number of state entities.

Seemingly, the participation in such forums creates extra opportunities to demonstrate the capabilities of IBA financial group as well as to achieve specific goals, such as forming the background for future project realization with foreign partners, increase of interests of potential investors and exporters interested not only in the Bank, but Azerbaijan as a whole.
