Debt of Azerbaijan Railways decreased by 50% last year

Last year volume of the debt of the Azerbaijan State Railway Office to foreign states for purchased goods and services decreased by 6.5 million Swiss francs or 50% and was 6.5 million Swiss francs by January 1, 2006.

It should be noted that in the reporting period debts of the Georgian railway administration decreased by 9.3 million Swiss francs (58.5%) to 6,6 million francs, Latvia – by 3.4 million francs (47.9%) to 3.7 million francs, Turkmenistan – 2.6 million francs (21%) to 9.8 million francs. The debt of the railway administration of Kyrgyzstan increased by 2.8 million francs, Uzbekistan – 0.8 million francs, Armenia – 0.4 million francs, and Moldova – 0.3 million francs. Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine and Lithuania had no current debts.

These figures are from the report presented at the Conference of the Directors of the Railway Transport Council of the CIS and Baltic countries held in Tallinn on April 11-13.

The debt of the CIS railway administrations to Russia Railroads OJSC was 9 million Swiss francs last year. 4.2 million francs (35.4%) of it fall to share of Tajikistan, 4.3 million francs (27.5%) of Moldova, 0.4 million francs (5.2%) of Kyrgyzstan.

Last year all railway administrations implemented payments in the amount of 219.4 million francs in tote. 81.3 million francs of it was made by Russia, 39.6 million Kazakhstan, 33.3 million Latvia, 13.8 million Estonia, 9.6 million Turkmenistan, 9.3 million Georgia, 8.3 million Azerbaijan, 8.3 million Belarus, 6.6 million Moldova, 4.3 million Tajikistan, 2.5 million Uzbekistan, 0.9 million Kyrgyzstan, 0.7 million Armenia, 0.5 million Lithuania, 0.4 million Ukraine.

APA was informed from the Azerbaijan State Railway Office (ASRO) that debts of ASRO significantly reduce every year. The existing debts occurred due to current expenditures and procurement of technical equipment. Unlike the CIS railway managements, ASRO does not owe Russia Railroads OJSC at present.
