State Committee: Azerbaijan willing to restore checkpoint on border with Iran

Azerbaijan is interested in restoring the Khudaferin checkpoint on the border with Iran, head of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee Aydin Aliyev told media.

He was commenting on the prospects for opening the new border customs posts.

"We stand for the restoration of the point," he said. "The Azerbaijani side is the initiator of the idea. Currently, it is too early to talk about any results. The negotiations are underway. The consent of the two countries is required to resolve this issue."

The Azerbaijani customs focused on the modernization of existing customs points, he added.
