SOCAR responds to Georgian airline’s accusation

24 May 2013 [14:37] - TODAY.AZ
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) rejected accusations of Georgian Airzena airline which stated that oil company has exclusive rights to import aviation fuel into Georgia despite the fact Airzena can import it itself.

As SOCAR representative in Georgia Irakli Zubitashvili told the Georgian Kommersant radio on Friday, the domestic market has no material or technical base for aircraft maintenance.

According to Zubitashvili, Airzena is maintained by Georgian Petroleum which supplies fuel to around 30 of the largest foreign companies in Georgia.

According to him, according to the agreement signed between SOCAR and Georgian Petroleum, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan helps the Georgian company to import fuel from Azerbaijan, but SOCAR has no right to interfere in the pricing and procurement processes.

According to Zubitashvili, compared with foreign companies, Georgian Petroleum delivers fuel at relatively low prices.
