“Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and EU continue negotiations on Trans-Caspian gas pipeline. The sides prepare the project of two documents” said Natig Aliyev, Azerbaijani Minister of Industry and Energy. “The first project is political document and has to be signed by the head of the three states and president of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso. This document will be political support to the implementation of the corridor and register again importance of construction of Trans-Caspian gas pipeline. The second document is the Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan intergovernmental agreement on the construction of the project”, he emphasized.
The Minister noted that there are few questions that are not clear to the sides. Turkmenistan is ready to give about 30 billion cubic meters gas for the project. Azerbaijan guarantee for Turkmenistan’s natural gas. The construction of the project to Turkey required $ 3 billion, but now the prices have increased. Only the construction of the pipeline through the Caspian Sea bed may reach 1-2 billion dollars.
