SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) has refuted information circulating on the signing a sponsorship contract with a Dutch football club.
'The success of SOCAR's strategic projects and the company's increased rating at international level in recent years creates gossip aimed at damaging the company's prestige.
'Immediately after the Trans Anatolian gas pipeline project (TANAP), providing transportation of natural gas extracted in Azerbaijan to Turkey and Europe was successfully launched in Belgium with the participation of European Union officials and representatives of the European Parliament and following its ratification by the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis (Parliament), individuals and public organisations started circulating baseless and false claims against the company', a report released by the company on Thursday said.
The report also noted that some of the mass media is still spreading misleading information that SOCAR has signed a sponsorship contract for $10 million with the Vitess Dutch football club for self-promotion.
Azerbaijan's State Oil Company declares that this information is untrue and that the company has not established any relations with the Vitess club and does not plan any cooperation with it in the future.
SOCAR contends that the company is providing transparency and clarity in its activities and is always revealing honest information about the daily life of the company, production activities and future plans to the press.
