Azerbaijan to join Kazakhstan- Kyrgyzstan pipeline construction

Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan will build a pipeline with a capacity of 2 million tons per year. The statement came from the Minister of Economy and Antitrust Policy of Kyrgyzstan Temir Sariev during an official visit to Kazakhstan, AzerTAc reports quoting Tazabek online edition.

In Astana, governmental delegation of Kyrgyzstan led by Sariev met with Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev. During the meeting the sides discussed the main directions of economic development of the two countries, identified priorities for further cooperation and collaboration.

"Yesterday, we visited KazMunayGas Company and discussed the construction of an oil pipeline from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan. The main issue is to negotiate resource. We agreed on creation of a working group with the possible participation of the Azerbaijani side, and emphasized that the pipeline will be used to operate the refinery, which is expected to be constructed by Azerbaijan in Kyrgyzstan. A route is expected to run from Shymkent, or Kyzyl-Orda to Kyrgyzstan,” Sariev said.

Azerbaijan earlier stated it intended by the end of 2013 to build a refinery in Kyrgyzstan with a capacity of 2 million tons per year.
