Deflation in Azerbaijan made up 0.47%

The Economic Research Centre of Azerbaijan has published the results of statistical studies of consumer price index for April 2012 on 10 regions of the country.

The Centre reports that the survey has shown that the April’s CPI fell by 0.47% versus 0.54% in March, 0.31% in February and 0.26% in January. Year-on-year inflation for Jan-Apr totaled 6.57% against 12.03% for 2011 and 0.96% since early 2012.

“Over Jan-Apr of the year the prices grew by 1.79% in Baku and by 0.15% in the regions. Year-on-year rise of prices made up 9.63% in Baku and 3.56% in regions. For this period the largest price increase was observed for food products – (+10.27%). Then follow non-food products (0.7%) and services (4.79%),” the Centre informed.

In its forecasts for 2012 ERC expected rise of consumer price index (CPI) by only 12.4%. For 2011 this forecast made 11.2%, but was exceeded.
